God in the Gaps Common: at the home of Todd & Dawn Comer (226 Maywinn Dr.)

November 9:  Selection from Brothers Karamazov

November 30:  Film: "The Terminal"

December 14:  "The Secret Message of Jesus" (Brian McClaren)

God in the Gaps.  Just what is this group that gets mentioned in the Sunday bulletin anyway?  Our brief description reads, "An edgy, postmodern, anarchic (maybe), intellectual, progressive, radically evolving (a)theological look at the Christian tradition," but does that really describe us?  Since God in the Gaps is a rather open-ended, non-agenda-driven group, I thought hearing individual voices attempt to define/describe GIG might offer a better picture of the GIG experience.

"God in the Gaps is a time to gather with others who find meaning in taking apart theological ideas and questioning the nature of spirit and human." -- MC

"GIG feels like an evolving community to me.  While our backgrounds and current positions on our faith journeys may differ, it's the sharing of our stories and the earnest desire to hear others' stories that holds us together." --Dawn

"God in the Gaps:  We only see God and ourselves through The Gap." -- Todd

"Definitions are tedious." -- Brandon

"After only one meeting, I could say something about what GIG felt like for me. I experienced a space where I could explore my own evolving spirituality, free of restrictions or expectations, and I could engage with others, try on new perspectives and see how they fit." --Jerri

Whether we're watching Bill Moyers' Genesis or Peter Weir's Fearless, discussing Brian McLaren's The Secret Meaning of Jesus, delighting over a shared meal, or just wrestling through our spiritual pasts and presents in good company, God in the Gaps is both welcoming and challenging.
